Good
for Business and the Environment:
Patented Product Causes Fuel to Burn More
Efficiently, Reducing Polluting Emissions and Companies' Fuel Costs
WEST PALM BEACH,
Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)- The exhaust of diesel engines prevalent in most trucks,
buses and large machinery is categorized as a human carcinogen. Althouo cut
diesel fuel pollution from trucks and buses by 95 percent last year, they will
not take effect until 2006. For 13 states, however, the EPA is not moving fast
enough. California, Conngh
the Environmental Protection Agency announced stricter rules tecticut,
Georgia, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York,
North Carolina, Rhode Island, Texas and Vermont allied in 2000 to impose
emissions limits stricter than national standards for pollution from trucks and
bus engines.
Responding to states' increasingly strident emissions regulations and concerned
about the status of the environment, Rentar Environmental Solutions, Inc.
announces the release of the Rentar Fuel Catalyst. The patented device enables
fuel to burn more efficiently, reducing ``black smoke'' and other emissions
while saving companies money by reducing their fuel consumption. More than 30
corporations, companies and groups, including the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Marine
Corps, trucking companies and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, have already tested
or use the Rentar Fuel Catalyst in their fleets. They reported up to a 22
percent decrease in fuel consumption and up to a 54 percent reduction in smoke
and exhaust pollution.
The
Rentar Fuel Catalyst can be used in trucks, buses, trains, ships, yachts and
boats, construction equipment, farm equipment, generators, pumps and other
machines with diesel engines. While aware of bus and truck emissions, many
people may not know that off-road vehicles, such as trains, ships and
construction and farm equipment, burn fuel less efficiently and can emit up to
eight times more toxic particles than their on-road counterparts.
``The
Rentar Fuel Catalyst has been in development for years, but there was not a
market for it until states began to impose stricter restrictions on emission
levels,'' said Joel Ratner, president, Rentar Environmental Solutions, Inc.
``Unlike many environmentally conscious products that businesses gripe about
because of higher costs, this is a one-time purchase that actually helps
companies save money by reducing fuel costs while leaving less of a destructive
imprint on our environment.''
The Los
Angeles Times reported that pollution levels in vehicles can be twice to 10
times more potent than the outside air, and with Americans spending more time in
their cars on congested roads, more attention is being paid to the effects of
breathing in these carcinogens. Also, school boards, such as one in Connecticut,
are examining the effects of children riding long distances on diesel-powered
school buses and waiting in carpool areas, where idling buses emit more
pollution than moving ones.
The
Rentar Fuel Catalyst is an environmentally and economically sound, one-time
purchase that is a cost-effective way for older engines to perform like newer
ones. This makes it a more desirable solution than water-based fuel additives,
which enter the water table and cost drivers each time they are at the pump; and
catalytic converters, which are not as effective and must be replaced on a
regular basis. Additionally, the Rentar Fuel Catalyst also reduces engine
maintenance and improves oil chemistry. In fact, the California Air Resources
Board (ARB) issued an executive order permitting the Rentar Fuel Catalyst to be
installed on California vehicles and equipment (#D394-2).
``In
addition to a reduction in fuel costs, companies will save money by eliminating
hefty fines imposed for emissions violations, not to mention potential court
costs that could ensue if non-complying fleets are deemed a liability risk,''
added Ratner. ``While it may allow executives to breathe easy, the drivers and
equipment operators will also be breathing a lot easier -- literally!''
The
Rentar Fuel Catalyst has been tested at certified labs and has shown a
significant reduction of all emissions, which are caused when unburned fuel is
blown out the exhaust. The molecular structure of fuel contains carbon, which
clusters together, causing less of it to react with oxygen molecules and burn,
which drives the engine. The Rentar Fuel Catalyst breaks up these carbon
clusters before the fuel gets to the engine, oxygenating more of the fuel,
without additives, so it better reacts with the oxygen burn. This process makes
the fuel more combustible before the combustion process, so more of the fuel is
actually burned, making the engine more efficient. This reduces the amount of
unburned fuel to reach the exhaust, which pollutes the air, and results in fewer
particles building up in the engine, which hinders performance and causes wear
and tear.
The
Rentar Fuel Catalyst is made of a patented combination of catalyst earth metals
and rare earth elements housed in a heavy gauge metal cylinder. There are a
variety of models, each specifically designed for a variety of applications. Rental engineers work with fleet management to reduce
their companies' total fleet consumption from 5 to 20 percent and reduce toxic
emissions from 10 to 54 percent. Most applications recover the initial cost of
the product in the first six to 12 months. The Rentar Fuel Catalyst goes in the
fuel line (between the fuel filter and the fuel injection pump) and can be
installed in about 30 minutes. It has no moving parts so it does not require
ongoing maintenance, but like the fuel line, should be examined periodically to
make sure it remains properly connected and in place. The Rentar Fuel Catalyst
comes with a 10-year limited warranty.
West Palm Beach, Fla.-based Rentar Environmental Solutions, Inc. is part of a
group of companies first incorporated in 1958. The company addresses the
increasing need for air and water preservation products. The Rentar Fuel
Catalyst has been issued three patents and a fourth one is pending. The company
is owned by the Ratner family, which, from funding from oil, gas, pipelines and
real estate, contributes to an ongoing research and development program that has
developed technologies resulting in commercially viable products such as D-Con
Rat Poison and ``Dry Freezing,'' which is today used in the making of citrus
concentrates and the strawberries in both Kellogg and Post brand cereals. The
company began researching and developing the Rentar Fuel Catalyst at its Houston
laboratory in 1978. As a result of the increased environmental awareness, the
company perfected and patented the product worldwide. For more information on
